The very first Jakarta get weekend getaway for our family is a day trip to Anyer Beach. We were craving for the sand and surf so we made the decision to hire a driver and car to take us there. Anyer, Indonesia, a beach resort town in Banten, West Java, is a famous weekend escape for Jakartans seeking beach and sunshine. Located about 160 kilometers west of Jakarta on the island's west coast, and across the Sunda Straight from Sumatra, Anyer was once a major port in the Dutch colonial era. Visible from Anyer's shoreline is the island Anak Krakatau, or 'Child of Krakatau', which is steadily rising from the sea in the place of its 'mother' island that was obliterated in the 1883 Krakatau eruption. A boat trip to visit the island may be arranged in Anyer or from nearby Calita to see the unique volcanic landscape up close.
TripAdvisor listed down a number of hotels to choose from should you decide to stay for the night. Since we are only staying for the day, we purchased our day pass at the Aston Anyer Beach Hotel for beach access and brunch. Before we headed home, we stopped by Restoran Jepang Midori, https://goo.gl/maps/eBCE5BhwzaXSTDqv5 a little oasis of coconut trees and joglos. It was a surprise to see a Japanese cuisine-inspired restaurant on our first adventure in Jakarta!
